Employees share their sustainable ideas
With our Together to Zero sustainability programme, we are committed to operating and producing completely CO2-free by 2050. Together with our partners, we are taking concrete actions in eight areas to this end. Our employees contribute with some of their own initiatives: inspiring ideas for a more sustainable world.
Sustainable mugs
Litter on and around the Spijk site had been a thorn in Sietse Thuis's side for some time. “There was all kinds of stuff lying around, especially a lot of plastic coffee cups. After a brainstorming session, we came up with the idea of making coffee drinking more sustainable.”
Planting trees
Sustainability is a theme that resonates with colleagues Baptiste, Christian, Isabelle, Magali, Soukirah and Laurent in Halluin (FR). They came up with the idea of planting trees in the garden behind the office: a team-building activity with a green result.

How can we contribute to a better climate in an approachable, simple way? With that question, Annick, Ine, Joëlle and Fanny from the marketing team at Spouwen set to work.
Return to sender
Brick samples often end up in the trash after use. A shame, because those samples are usually perfectly reusable. Recovering brick samples is not only good for the environment - you create less waste AND need fewer new bricks - it also solves a practical problem.
Finance Team Climate Pact
The Finance Team is making the case for sustainability in several ways. “We set up the WhatsApp group 'Finance Team Climate Pact.' In it we share our sustainable actions: carpooling, biking to the bakery, picking up litter. The idea is that every little bit helps and many small actions add up to big ones.”
Happy bikers
Doing small distances by bike, that was tMichelle Graß and her teammates Jos Bosch and Stans Dietz' idea. Going to Tolkamer or getting sandwiches from the bakery just across the border in Elten, it's actually a shame to take the car to do that. So they came up with the idea of buying a rental bike in Spijk.
Together to Zero
Together to Zero is our promise to operate and produce completely carbon-free by 2050. Together with our partners, we are committed to this on several fronts, shown in eight areas. With concrete steps, we are reducing our CO2 emissions to zero. It is a challenge we take up together.
