Wirecut pavers
The possibilities of wirecut pavers are unparalleled. The production process allows for custom sizes, giving a limitless number of variations. You can have the best of all worlds – size, colour, and texture.
We produce extruded or wirecut pavers at our plants in Kessel and Oberlausitz. A vacuum press produces a continuous clay bar with precise rectangular dimensions. The bar is then cut into blocks of the correct size in a fully automatic process. We can also customise practical features and surface features, such as spacers and surface structures.
Wirecut paver colours
With the extrusion process, the clay mixture primarily comprises pure, high-plasticity clay, also referred to as ‘primary clay’. Primary clays are clean and free from components other than clay particles and a small quantity of sand. The purity of the clay means that our extruded pavers are available in striking and pure colours. We can also create extremely appealing colour nuances, including by applying engobes (decorative clay coatings).
Sizes and bespoke work
Vandersanden supplies wirecut pavers in a range of lengths. Bespoke sizes are also possible within the production process. We can produce lengths up to 300 mm in different widths and heights. The visible surface of the paver can have a width of up to 160 mm and a length of up to 300 mm. Heights can vary from 45 to 100 mm. We always take the header/stretcher ratio into account.
Linge® large size pavers
Linge® large size pavers are are unique to Vandersanden and are also available as wirecut pavers. With a length of approx. 245 mm, they help give public spaces a completely different appearance. Being larger than conventional standard sizes, they help to create a calmer streetscape. In addition, the Linge® size helps to reduce maintenance thanks to fewer joints.
Countless finishing options
Our wirecut pavers can be scraped, smooth, or sand-covered depending on the colour. In addition, there is a range of texture options, including waffle or diagonal patterns, or a rugged visual surface with relief. A chamber, taper, or spacers are more practical finishing options. We also supply perforated pavers for improved water permeability, as well as grass pavers.
Wirecut pavers are known for their sleek appearance. Some public space projects require a more rustic appearance. Tumbling wirecut pavers after they have left the kiln helps create a more rustic feel, making the pavers look as if they have been exposed to the elements since day one in a completely natural way.
