The use of glue or thin-bed mortar results in a thinner joint between the facing bricks than traditional masonry. The adhesive or thin-bed mortar is applied in a raked manner (deeper) and the bricks are not jointed. A joint-free bond lies a few millimetres back from the visible face of the facing brick, emphasising the shape of the brick.
