Technical data sheet, DoP or CE data sheet: which one do you need and when?

What is the purpose of the technical data sheet and the DoP (Declaration of Performance), which you can find online alongside our bricks and strips? What information does the CE data sheet provide? And which document do you need at each stage of your project? We’ve summarized it for you.

Technical data sheet: all the information you need for the design phase

Before and during the design phase, the technical data sheet provides a comprehensive overview of the properties of our bricks and brick slips.

  • Appearance, colour and sizes
  • Tolerances and dimensions
  • Performance in accordance with specific product standards
  • Additional technical properties
  • Initial processing recommendations

Based on this information, you can compare products objectively and choose the right material for your project. The technical data sheet is not linked to a specific delivery or production batch.

You can find the technical data sheet via our download centre or product finder, on the individual product pages for our bricks and brick slips, under the heading ‘Downloads & Information’.

DoP: control document upon delivery

DoP: control document upon delivery

The DoP (Declaration of Performance) is an official legal document. It sets out a product’s performance in accordance with the European Construction Products Regulation and is only available for products for which a product standard exists. The DoP is therefore not a design tool but a supporting document used upon delivery to verify the product’s declared performance and conformity with the applicable regulatory requirements

This document is:

  • linked to a specific product
  • mandatory upon delivery and confirms that the products supplied comply with the declared performance levels in accordance with the relevant product standard (e.g. EN 771-1 for bricks)
  • part of the statutory documentation

You can find the DoP via our download centre or via the product finder, on the individual product pages for our bricks and brick slips, under the heading ‘Downloads & Information’.

CE data sheet: tracing a production batch

The CE data sheet is also mandatory upon delivery. It is linked to a specific production batch and ensures, among other things, that the bricks or brick slips supplied can be traced back to that batch. It provides the relevant product information for the specific products supplied.

You will find the CE data sheet in the packaging of the supplied bricks or brick slips.

Summary

To compare products, use the technical data sheet as your main reference during the design and preparation phase. The DoP provides the declared performance and conformity information for the product, whilst the CE data sheet allows a product to be traced back to a specific production batch.

Both the technical data sheets and the DoPs can be viewed online on the individual product pages for our bricks and brick slips, under the ‘Downloads & Information’ section.
