A new Jaak

Jaak describes himself as a quiet person. "I try to enjoy life. I used to jump into a lot of different things and felt forced to do 'too much'. I tried to change things around after a difficult period in my life and now I'm finding it easier to let things go. Whereas my mailbox used to have to be empty at the end of the day, I'm now fine with answering some of my emails the next day. This new way of life suits me more."

Together we build greatness

"Most of all I enjoy spending time with my two children, who are twins (a boy and a girl). It's great horsing around with them, playing tag, swimming, playing mini golf or going bowling. My wife and I take the kids on trips or holidays regularly. Once a year, my wife and I go on a city break. We've been to Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and Rome, to name just a few of the beautiful cities. On these occasions, we enjoy the good things in life; the surroundings, the culture and the food. With our children, we go to a sunny destination every year, not just to sunbathe on the beach, but to do things together: swimming, cycling, walking or sightseeing. Doing things together, that's what it's all about."

Sportsman

Jaak is a football fan. "I played for Stokkem VV for years, but was forced to stop because of an ankle injury. But watching it from the sidelines is also great fun, together with friends or my father. On weekends when there is no football, I go for a ride on my racing bike. Sometimes I go with my colleague Danny, other times I go alone, on trips between 50 and 100 kilometres. I also run twice a week, on average 10 kilometres. I usually run in a quiet area, with no cars. I put my headphones on, listen to music and totally relax.”
