Extruded pavers

The possibilities of extruded pavers are unparalleled. The production process allows for custom sizes, giving a limitless number of variations. You can have the best of every world – size, colour, and texture.

We produce extruded stones at our plants in Kessel and Oberlausitz. A vacuum press produces a continuous clay bar with clean, rectangular dimensions. The bar is then cut into blocks of the correct size in a fully automatic process. We can also customise practical features and external features, such as spacers and surface structures.

With the extrusion procedure, the clay mixture primarily comprises pure and greasy clay, also referred to as ‘primary clay’. Primary clays are clean and free from components other than clay particles and a small quantity of sand. The purity of the clay means that our extruded stones are available in striking and pure colours. We can also create extremely appealing effects in colour nuances, including by applying engobes (decorative clay silt).

The product finder

Vandersanden supplies extruded pavers in a range of length dimensions. Bespoke sizes are possible within the production process for these pavers. We can produce lengths up to 300 mm in different widths and heights. We can operate within a width of 160 mm and a length of 300 mm for the visual surface of the stone. Heights are also variable, from 45 to 100 mm. We always take into account the header/stretcher ratio.

Linge® large size pavers are unique to Vandersanden and are also available as extruded pavers. With a length of approx. 245 mm, they help give public spaces a wholly different look. Being larger than the conventional standard sizes, they help to create a calmer streetscape. In addition, the Linge® size helps to reduce maintenance thanks to fewer joints.

Our extruded stones can be scraped, smooth, or sand-coated depending on the colour. In addition, there are a range of texture options, including waffle or diagonal patterns, or a rugged visual surface with relief. A chamber, taper, or spacers are more practical finishing options. We also supply perforated stones for added permeability to water, as well as grass pavers.

Extruded bricks are known for their sleek appearance. Some public space projects need a more rustic appearance. Tumbling extruded pavers after they have left the kiln helps to create a more rustic feel, making the pavers look like they have been outside and exposed to the elements since day one, perfectly naturally.
