Vandersanden is Awarded the Limburg Climate Award
Spouwen-Bilzen, 8th December 2022 - Vandersanden, Europe's largest brick-producing family company, won the Limburg Climate Award yesterday evening.
The family company were awarded for their exceptional sustainability track record. "Receiving this Climate Award confirms that we are on the right path with our sustainability strategy 'Together to Zero'. We have been investing for years in sustainable energy and innovative products that emit less CO2 during production and remain committed to being completely CO2 neutral by 2050," said Rudi Peeters, CEO at Vandersanden.
Last night Vandersanden was awarded a prize during the annual election of 'Limburg Entrepreneur of the Year'. The brick producer, with over 800 employees and 15 branches in Europe, received the Limburg Climate Award.

CO2 neutral by 2050
The prize was awarded by Het Belang van Limburg and the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action/The Shift because Vandersanden is following an exceptional course in the field of sustainability. The jury chose the brick manufacturer because it has been using renewable energy for 15 years, with solar panels, cogeneration and now also its own wind turbine. In addition, the jury also praised Vandersanden's sustainable innovations in terms of processes, production and products that emit less CO2, such as slim bricks and RoboBrick, with even the launch of a CO2-negative facing brick planned soon.
"Sustainability is an important pillar within what we call Collective Wellbeing. We commit, together with our partners, to be completely CO2-neutral by 2050 as part of our 'Together to Zero' pledge. Together we build greatness and only in this way, can we achieve this goal, so we are going to celebrate this recognition together," said Rudi Peeters, CEO at Vandersanden.
