7 advantages of bricks

A comfortable indoor climate

Bricks are very good at holding the heat from the sun, which means that your home will cool down more slowly in the winter. In the summer, you can enjoy the opposite effect, preventing your home from overheating. Brick facades are great for creating a comfortable indoor climate. They also help to save energy.

No maintenance

Bricks require no maintenance and have a long lasting beauty. Even better, a brick facade will only improve over the years, taking on an appearance we call ‘patina’. The patina gives your home a unique charm.

Whether it’s baking hot or freezing, facing bricks always maintain their shape. They are also resistant to high pressure. Buildings with ten or more storeys are also easy to work with. They offer ample design freedom, both for clients and architects.

Non-flammable

Brick is non-flammable and non-combustible, reducing the risk of fire damage. In the event that a fire does occur, there will be no release of toxic gases. Following a fire, a brick facade can often continue its supporting function in a renovated building.

Flexible in use

Bricks are available in a wide range of colours and textures, making them ideal for different styles and tastes. The versatile brick can also be combined with other materials. Want to know more about the many options?

Reusable and recyclable

Brick is sustainable throughout its life. After demolition, bricks can be recycled or reused. Recycled bricks give a building an authentic appearance and character. After recycling, bricks can be used for various purposes; including as filler and stabilisation material, on tennis courts, as aggregate for poured concrete, and various other uses.

Why Vandersanden bricks?

Some Vandersanden bricks are protected against soiling

It’s something familiar to everyone – houses and buildings with white spots. When you build something, you always intend for it to continue to look as good in the long term as it does at the beginning. White effluorescence from salt and limescale can spoil the look, just like green deposits and soiling from the weather. Not with Vandersanden’s facing bricks! We apply a special liquid to facing bricks after the firing process to make them water-repellent. The result? A sustainably attractive facade that is better protected from soiling. Almost all of our bricks have this water-repellent coating. Interested in learning more about coated bricks?
