Post-insulation – say hello to low energy costs!

Several years ago, Vincent and Twiggy had the middle part of the home demolished and rebuilt. They would tackle the two annexes later. It was now time to add the finish to the house as a whole, and their decision to opt for the E-Board® façade system has given the couple an ongoing saving on their energy bills.

Working with an experienced contractor, they renovated and insulated their extremely crooked, solid walls with the E-Board® façade panel. The added value is considerable. Vincent and Twiggy’s partly uninsulated home has now been fully insulated. The efficiency of the insulation now means that their home uses less energy, resulting in lower costs.

The old façades were painted white. The sustainable brick finish means that the couple no longer need to worry about having to maintain their façade. They opted for the white brick Perla. The façade needed to be level, so they jointed to the same level as the facing brick and opted for a joint with the same colour as the brick Vincent jointed the façade himself. In fact, after consulting with their contractor, the homeowners did much of the preparatory work themselves. The painted façades were firstly cured and then painted with a fixative.

With an insulation thickness of 12 cm, the insulation is plentiful Less insulation was used around the kitchen as this part of the house is already insulated on the inside. The post-insulation meant that the new façade moved forwards slightly, but this was easily rectified. To do this, the contractor modified the roof by adding additional roof tiles.
