  • Heat-Power-Coupling plant in Spouwen for the production of its own electricity. 
  • Equipping all factory chimneys with a filter, which largely meets the standards in application.

2001: Inroads in the Netherlands

  • Take-over of the Dutch brickyard Duijs in Hedikhuizen, near Den Bosch.

2005: Joint Venture with Huwa Baksteen for the Dutch production activities

  • 50-50 Joint Venture with Huwa Baksteen for the Dutch production activities. Huwa-Vandersanden manages 3 factory units: Hedikhuizen, Spijk and Angeren.
  • In 2005 Vandersanden NV and its staff of 200 and 130 strong Huwa-Vandersanden BV together produce 450 million facing bricks a year (of which 35 million paving bricks), making them n°3 in Europe.

2006-2007: construction of a new production plant in Hedikhuizen (NL)

  • In 2006 Huwa-Vandersanden started with the construction of an entire new production plant in Hedikhuizen.
  • On the 26. September 2007 the new factory was officially opened. The production capacity amounts to approximate 75 millions bricks per year. Both the building and the installation have been built with a view to high energy efficiency, all consumed energy is optimally exploited. In the new factory mainly bricks with the brand name Vandersanden are produced.
  • In 2007 Vandersanden Belgium and Huwa-Vandersanden the Netherlands produce more than 500 millions bricks.

2007: Opening of a new sales office and showroom in Halluin (FR)

  • After having been located for more than 20 years in Northern France, the sales office of Vandersanden Bricks in Halluin was due some modernization. Since 1 May 2007, Vandersanden welcomes those keen to build their own home, in the new showroom in Halluin.
  • Halluin is located near Menen, close to the Belgian border.
